So as all of you know, I’m big on skincare. Whether it’s my face, my body, and most recently my baby bump, a good skincare routine really goes a long way. As my body expands, my skin is getting thinner and dryer, and therefore requires a little extra love and attention. In order to prevent stretch marks, I started a morning and evening baby bump skin care routine in the middle of my 1st trimester. As I write this, I’m in my third trimester and thankfully so far things are manageable. (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, and stretch marks are variable from person to person depending on genetics, lifestyle factors, etc.). So far I don’t have stretch marks on my stomach and thanks to my routine, I don’t feel little need to scratch my itchy skin. So here are a few of the skin care items I use to help with the itching, stretch marks, and simply feeling good. Please keep in mind, that I’ve either bought these products or they were given as gifts to me by my friends and family. My routine consists of with all-natural products, which I know are pregnancy-safe.
Morning
- Before Shower: When I wake up in the morning, I apply Kama Ayurveda Dhanwantaram Tailam Pre-Post Natal Treatment, which is an Ayurvedic Body massage oil to increase elasticity in the skin, boost immunity, and reduce stretch marks. So every morning, while I’m changing for my workout, I apply this on my belly and lower back, and leave it on through my work out-approximately 1 hour (instructions say at least 30 minutes). It’s non greasy texture makes it easy to wear under clothes and carry on with the morning.
- After Shower: While taking a shower, I wash off the product above, and after shower I move on the apply The Mom’s Co. Natural Stretch Oil with Seabuckthorn, Rosehip, and Jojoba Oil-again another natural, pregnancy and baby specific brand. I started applying oils on my bump in the 2nd trimester, and this one was the first one. Before that I was only doing body butter. Now I apply this oil AND body butter: currently using The Mom’s Co. Natural Body Butter with Shea & Cocoa Butters, Sea Buckthorn & Rosehip Oils. In fact I’m finishing my 2nd tub of it, and I will be moving on to the Kama Ayurveda Kokum and Almond Body Butter.
Thankfully, all of that sustains me throughout the day and if even I even feel a crazy itch I’m able to simply reapply the body butter.
Evening: By the the time evening comes around, I use O4U The Organic Beauty Shop Kerala Pumpkin Seed Oil, a cold pressed organic oil which is an excellent source of Vitamin E, and is known for preventing stretch marks. That keeps me good through the night, and I’m on my 2nd bottle of that as well.
So there you have it, my current pregnancy bump skin care routine that has so far sustained me throughout my pregnancy. If anything changes, I’ll definitely let you know!
I totally live these products, it works.
