My Weekend Reset Checklist as a SAHM

When I was in my 20s, weekends were all about living it up-whether it was binging Netflix or going for a night out. However, things changed as I entered my 30s and became a mom. Now, I love using my weekends to reset for the week. As a stay-at-home mom, if I don’t designate certain days for certain tasks then everything blurs together. Therefore to keep the house and life running smoothly through the week, I use the weekends to reset with the checklist below. Put the laptop away and enjoy the weekend 🙂

(Mostly) Saturdays

The weekend has begun: so we take time to chill 🙂

Everything Shower-First and foremost is THE shower. I posted a detailed blog post about this last week. But this encompasses extensive skincare, haircare, and overall self care.

Have a Slow Flow Day-Throughout the week, I’m operating on a schedule from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. However, on the weekends I ensure to have one day where there’s no regimented schedule and we move with the flow of the day, and it allows me to be more motivated and ready for the schedule during the week.

Spend Time with Family-Over the weekends we always make it a point to do some activity together as a family-whether it’s attending a local event, going out for a meal, or any other family activity. We always make sure that we use the weekend to just hang out together and make memories, and this time varies: sometimes it’s Saturdays, other times it’s Sundays, and other times it’s both!

(Mostly) Sundays

I had a great chill day, so now I’m motivated to prep for the week ahead.

Plan Dinners for the Week-One task that really helps me organize for the week is planning the dinners. I usually plan the dinners based on the ingredients I already have at home, the stage of my cycle, and what my husband and I are craving.

Make Grocery List-Once the meals are planned, I make the grocery list accordingly. I love going grocery shopping on Tuesdays, when Aisha can participate with me. My grocery list is organized by the particular store I need to go to to get the items.

Do Small Laundry Loads & Iron-I don’t do all the laundry on the weekend. I designate days of the week for different loads (you can see the schedule here) and weekends are for the small loads. So I do the small loads and make sure they are ironed, folded and put away-all while watching a show or a movie.

So that is my weekend reset check list. I’m able to manage this about 90% of the time. The times I don’t manage it I do feel something is off, but that’s life. How do you reset for your weekends??

I love that you dedicate one day to “go with that flow”. It’s good to let your mind rest for one day.
Love the Sunday routine as well!
