Getting Glam for a Desi Wedding & Handling a Kid at the Same time

So last week we got to attend a big fat Indian wedding, which was definitely a good time, and an experience with a 19 month old in tow. But I enjoyed it. So here’s a breakdown of how it went down.

First Event-Sangeet: The Sangeet was local-about 10 minutes from home, and I managed to get a babysitter, which was a huge blessing. Since it’s a big Indian celebration, we went for Indian glam: I wore a green and gold sharara by my dear friend who has a wonderful namesake brand called Avnni Kapur Official. My husband and daughter repeated the outfits they wore to my sister’s sangeet. More on those in this blog post here. The event was a great time! I’m so lucky that I had my babysitter attend so I could hang out with my family and catch up with some friends before calling it a night.

The next two events were out of town in Napa Valley-at the Meritage Resort, which was stunning-so it ended up being a family thing where all of us stayed two nights in Napa and had a lovely time

Second Event-Cocktail Party: The second event was a cocktail party, and it was an adults-only, smaller cocktail party with cocktail-ish dress code. My parents were kind enough to watch Aisha for the night while my husband and I could be adults for an evening. I opted for a body contour side cutout dress from Express, and my husband went for a black shirt with grey chinos for the event. We had a fabulous night with drinks, adult conversation, and keeping thing classy.

Third Event-Wedding Reception: The third and final event was the wedding reception with a Western/fusion/Indian Black Tie dress code. I opted for a body suit and matching skirt set from Tarun Tahiliani, which was so perfect for the occasion, while my husband kept it classic with a grey suit. Being a family event, Aisha wore a bright red dress with little black boots-perfect for the season and the occasion! However, it was a challenging evening. Despite getting her stroller, favorite coloring books, and her go-to snacks, Aisha was not having it. She didn’t want to sit in her stroller or walk around due to the sheer number of people. She was quite overwhelmed. So we only stayed there for an hour. Thankfully we got to experience the stunning venue and decor for a little bit. The moment we made it back to our hotel, Aisha was back to usual playful self.

So that’s how the weekend went down for us. It was fun to get glam for a bit after a long long time. Back to our festive content!

These outfits were stunning! I see those red bottom heels you wore for the cocktail event (haha). I’m glad you were able to have an adults night at the cocktail event. I also enjoyed reading about all the outfits.
