All last week, Instagram went crazy with the Met Gala looks. As outrageous and stunning as many looks were, a few definitely stood out above the rest: Kim Kardashian West, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, & Deepika Padukone. Seeing Deepika at the red carpet had me SHOOK. My inner American Desi heart was jumping for joy to see her being recognized on such an international stage and killing it at the same time. Her makeup look was so so beautiful that I felt inspired to create my version of it.
I started getting into makeup after moving to India. Before my wedding, I was a super basic eye liner and lip gloss kinda girl. However, that definitely isn’t enough with the number of weddings and social functions that keep happening. Therefore, my American “do-it-yourself” brain figured that I might as well acquire a few makeup skills along the way. So after YouTube and Pinterest tutorials, I fell in love with the art of makeup, and now I have fun with it duringmy getting ready process.
With all that in mind, Deepika Padukone’s makeup look at the 2019 Met Gala was perfection. I was practically drooling over her purple metallic look, and I keep stalking her photos! Although I AM NOT A MAKEUP ARTIST, I couldn’t stop myself from having a little fun. So check out my Deepika-inspired makeup look below (I use the term “inspired” very loosely).
