So when it came to planning this week’s blog post, I immediately gravitated towards talking about Holi this weekend. But I don’t enjoy it, and therefore, I don’t play it-so what on Earth would I post about?? When it comes to Holi, the only thing I like about it is that it celebrates color, and colors are beautiful. So beautiful that I made Aisha’s birthday theme rainbow and unicorn. She’s made my life so colorful that I wanted to celebrate her in that way. For her birthday party, the theme, return gifts, and outfits were my department-so let me take you through my thought process below! Fun Fact: all these businesses are Indian Instagram Businesses and I’m happy with each and every one of them!
Theme & Decor I knew from when I was pregnant that I wanted to throw a Rainbow & Unicorn theme party at some point-especially if I had a daughter. So her first birthday party was my opportunity and I went all out on the color. Therefore, the first person I spoke to was the decorator. Once I told her my theme, we immediately discussed the cake backdrop-which was a photo I found on Pinterest, then it was canopy decor, table linens, and centerpieces. All of which were a series of whatsapp conversations. I wanted to ensure that not one color was highlighted more than the other. All colors should be equally distributed and highlighted. And Divine Events & Entertainment did not disappoint! They brought my entire vision to life!
Return Gifts: The next person I spoke to almost at the same as the decorator, was the return gifts vendor. I worked with The Marigold Diaries to come up with personalized gifts for all the kids. Once I told her the theme, she sent me several options of what we can give to the kids who are invited. We eventually decided on the book ends, as they work across age groups and genders. We finalized on one design and then we did a couple of design tweaks for the girls and for the boys. Then, I gave her the list of kids (approx 32 kids), and she made them well in time.
Cake: I went with Nupur Kanudia for her cake. Since it was a larger celebration, we concluded on a two tier cake with just the right bells and whiles to fit her theme!
Aisha’s Outfit: Next on the agenda was Aisha’s outfit. I was very very sure that I didn’t want to do pink or overly frilly. I’m not too much of a pink person, and my husband absolutely detests the frills. Therefore, Angel Couture was the perfect option. I wanted to keep it clean and simplistic. In fact with all the colorful decor, I wanted white for her, but the dress designer I liked didn’t have the ivory option. So we went for powder blue, which was actually perfect-and managed to get a customized matching bow from D Dream Bow!
My Look: Oh this was such a struggle! I wanted something from a friend of mine, but that didn’t work out. HOWEVER, I’m so lucky that in the search process I found a new brand and got the perfect ‘fit. Semya by Shivani came through with a powder pink coord set! Chic, comfortable, and a color I simply don’t normally do! To accessorize, I bought a pair of white sandals from Mango, and paired it with my floral earrings-which had the same color scheme as the outfit. I ended up putting hair back in a curled low pony tail, with pink soft makeup that had just enough sparkle to go from day to night!
So those are the details that I focused on during Aisha’s birthday party! I had so much fun planning everything. What detail was your favorite??
