It’s my birthday week. I turn 31 this year, and this year I took the opportunity to reflect on some of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the years and I still apply today. Some of these lessons I always knew, but they got reiterated in the last few years. So here goes!
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Drink water
- Nobody can make you happy more than you, yourself (self love for the win)
- Trust your gut
- Health encompasses physical, mental, emotional, AND spiritual needs
- What matters most is what you think of yourself, not what others think of you.
- Wake up early to get ahead of the day
- Take out your outfit/workout clothes the night before
- Invest in good skincare
- Write things down if you forget
- Go handsfree whenever you can
- There is so much out of your control
- Be grateful
- You cannot control how others react/behave, but you can control how YOU react
- Stand/sit up straight
- Have one hobby that keeps you creative, one hobby that makes you money, and one hobby that keeps you fit
- Women’s health is way different than men’s health
- Your energy rubs off on others
- “Doing Nothing” is actually a good thing
- Eating healthy does more than helping your body. It makes you look good too.
- When you look good, you feel good
- Journaling helps you collect your thoughts
- When it comes to parenthood, theres no right or wrong-it is whatever works for everyone involved
- Taking a walk helps you clear your head
- Reading a book never gets old
- No matter how advanced technology gets, nothing replaces in-person communication and interaction
- Heartbreak is a part of growing up
- If you’re confused between two choices, flip a coin-the answer will come mid flip
- Being busy all the time is overrated
- Be kind
- Be YOU-theres only one of YOU
So those are 31 (of many lessons) I’ve learned along the way and I’m still applying to today. Did anything resonate with you? Let me know!
This is such a great post. It’s good to reflect on things you have learned within the last year.
