As I write this, I’ve been a mommy for nearly 6 months now, and I have to admit I definitely underestimated how busy one can get with a teeny tiny one. Like as much as I love being a mom, there are days where I literally don’t have time to do anything, other than take care of Aisha and whatever she needs. HOWEVER, that being said, I’ve learned that there a few essentials that every mom needs to save time and keep some sanity. I know I use these items a lot, and I would encourage all moms to have them.
Wireless headphones-I got my Airpods a couple weeks after Aisha was born. OMG did I need these. Whether it is needing to answer a phone call, while I’m holding/feeding Aisha or listening to a podcast while putting her to sleep, airpods to the rescue to keep the multi-tasking game strong. I’ll be honest, there are times I’m feeding her and I have my phone in another corner watching a show with my airpods in.
Handsfree, Wireless Breast Pump-I cannot emphasize how necessary this is. When I started my breast pumping journey, I was using a pump where I was plugged into a wall, pumping one side at a time-spending 30 minutes during each pump session. During the first few weeks after Aisha was born, I was doing this practice every 2-3 hours-can you imagine how annoying that is? Eventually it progressed to just 4 times today, and the only way it was manageable was because I had a nanny to take care of Aisha when I couldn’t because I had to sit next to wall. Talk about extremely annoying. However, in the US I got my hands on a handsfree pump, that fits inside my bra and it’s a lifesaver. I can do pump and do other tasks at the same time! It’s a miracle. 90% of the time, I’m washing the dishes, listening to a podcast and pumping all at once. I feel extremely accomplished.
Cell Phone Holder for Stroller-Small, handy, never thought I’d need it, but it’s great. I can prop my phone in the holder, watch a show, Facetime my family, or listen to something all while giving Aisha a walk. Like I said: small, handy, yet serves a significant purpose.
So those are my top 3 ultimate multitasking items I feel every new mom should have to make their lives significantly easier. Motherhood is beautiful and difficult so anything to simplify it helps a lot!
