Happy Valentines Month!! Who is totally here for the month of February and spreading a little love?? Personally, I find it super fun. I love making it an event with the gifting and the decor and everything in between. However, as a busy adult, it can be difficult to create that festive feel without dealing with messes and tantrums AND post the holidays it gets challenging to create that super festive vibe. I would love to do a craft day-but thankfully I have childcare and school for that AND I don’t want to deal with the mess. Nevertheless, in the last couple of years I’ve come up with a couple of ways that I love celebrating this month (and just about any month) with my toddler. So here goes!
Decorating-Starting with the most obvious: decorating the house. I have very fond memories from my childhood, when my mom used to get decorations from Micheals and put them up around the house to make Valentine’s an event. I love doing the same thing. I’ve got some decent decorations from Target and they look just so cute! Plus my little one had so much fun just looking at everything.
Baking/Cooking-So here is my take on anything related to food As much as I love a plate of Valentines Cookies, but with an almost 3 year. Nevertheless, I am debating to attempt a Valentines-inspired breakfast, so we’ll see how that goes. However, for those who want to actually get into actual baking/cooking, it’s truly a wonderful way to make memories and it can be fun!
Local Events-For just about any holiday, I’m always on the lookout for local events in the area. It is an easy, affordable way to be with the theme of the month, add to the memory of the holiday, and have no mess at home! For example, a local coffee shop where I live has a kid’s Valentines cookie decorating class, which I would totally sign up for, if my kid was old enough. Stuff like that you know?
So those are my easy, kid-friendly, affordable ways to incorporate the holiday within the month. What are some of your favorite ways to celebrate Valentines with you kids?
