I don’t know about you but I’m definitely looking forward to 2020 being over. This year was absolutely nuts in a variety of different ways. That being said, especially with how this year turned out to be, I have to take a minute to celebrate the small wins, for which I’m truly grateful. Turns out being put in uncomfortable situations forces you to grow (who knew), and 2020 was all kinds of uncomfortable. So here are 20 wins I’ve gone through in 2020.
- Managing the Mind-We all know being quarantined is NOT EASY, but I did discover that actively working on managing my headspace to get thru the most frustrating days is extremely helpful. Hence, why I got into meditation and mental health exercises.
- Using Affirmations-Saying or reading affirmations are what have gotten me through the most anxious moments this year. They help with the subconscious, and calmed me down.
- Recognizing when I need to Journal my thoughts- I realize that journaling helps me communicate. Whenever I have way too much on my mind, I’ve found that journaling gives me an avenue to vent out rather than word vomiting to my husband.
- Took an Ayurveda Course-Thanks to lockdown, I took advantage of a whole bunch of free online courses. Learning about Ayurveda was one of them.
- Learned how to Cook- I usually don’t cook. I learned how to cook and enjoyed it during lockdown as well.
- Learned about Nutritional Science-Another course I took during lockdown.
- Learned about Human Anatomy- At the beginning of the year, I had plans to become a qualified Pilates Instructor by the end of 2020. COVID threw that out the window. However, I did study the muscular and skeletal system and how our body works to create movement. It was extremely fascinating.
- Figured out how to Manifest-I’m currently manifesting for traveling home in 2021 :).
- Had a massive Clean out- This was when I learned that acts of service (like cleaning) actually work. I’m cleaning different corners in my room as I prepare for the baby’s arrival, and it is truly therapeutic.
- Became more Vocal with my POV- I walked into 2020 after having an extremely challenging 2019 personally. As a result, I realized that it’s better to be honest about my viewpoint and thought process rather than keeping it inside. And that definitely helped with my communication this year.
- Managed to be Productive and Happy despite being Home all day-When lockdown started, I had 2 goals in mind: be productive and be happy. I managed to do both through taking courses, attending IG Lives, staying in touch with my loved ones, and growing this blog.
- Figured out how to get “Me Time” in a Crowded Space-I live in a large household. Lockdown brought its own set of challenges with alone time. However, headphones definitely saved me. I was able to be in a physically occupied room and still tune everyone out. Talk about a win.
- Let go-If I can take away one thing from 2020 is to not plan anything. To literally let go. At the beginning of the year, I had one plan and COVID literally threw everything out the window, which resulted in me learning how to simply go with the flow. Thankfully, I’m still able to do that.
- Appreciate Doing Small Stuff for Myself-Even though I kind of already knew it, doing my hair and makeup for myself really boosted my mood.
- Move at your own pace-Another difficult lesson I learned in the lockdown and during my first trimester. With this year being what it is, I had to realize when my mind and body needed rest, and I’m thankfully in a position to be able listen to those cues. Hence, moving at my own pace.
- Figured out who my true Crew is-With not seeing people physically, I learned who my true crew is by staying in touch thru video calls.
- Shopped with no Shame-just treating myself
- Followed the Circadian Rhythm-I’m IN LOVE with mornings now
- Learned about Hormonal Health-I learned a lot of about how amazing my body is, and what it’s capable of doing
- Survived 2020-THIS IS A HUGE WIN! It should be on everyone’s list. We got through 2020! Bring on 2021!
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s taught us all to be resilient and push through. To me that is a very valuable lesson that we can all do with being reminded of from time to time. Nevertheless, I’m so looking forward to 2021. Happy New Year to you all!
Girl these points are so wonderful and true for me too. Thanks for sharing this hon😊
